Effective October 18, 2026.
PIC brings together neighbors, business owners and volunteers who care about Pikesville. These guidelines apply to everything you submit to this website, to PIC events and meetings, and to communication with PIC volunteers. They are part of our Terms of Use.
Be respectful
- Treat everyone with courtesy, even when you disagree. Discuss ideas, not people.
- Harassment, threats, intimidation, and discrimination or hate based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability or any other protected characteristic are never allowed.
- Respect privacy: do not share another person’s personal information, or photos in which they can be identified, without their permission.
Keep it relevant and honest
- Keep submissions related to Pikesville and PIC’s mission.
- Do not post false or misleading information, and do not impersonate anyone.
- No spam, chain messages or unsolicited advertising. Businesses may promote themselves through their directory listing and sponsorship benefits.
- PIC is nonpartisan. Do not use PIC’s website or events to campaign for or against candidates for public office.
Keep it lawful and safe
- Do not submit anything illegal, sexually explicit, violent or that infringes someone else’s copyright or trademark.
- Photos of minors require permission from a parent or guardian.
- At events, follow venue rules and any instructions from organizers.
How we handle concerns
- Report it. Email ContactUs@PikesvilleImprovement.org or use the contact form and choose “Issue / Concern.” For emergencies, call 911 first.
- Review. Two PIC volunteers who are not involved in the matter review each report, usually within 7 days.
- Proportionate response. Depending on how serious and repeated the issue is: a reminder of these guidelines, removal or editing of the content, a written warning, temporary suspension, or closing the account. Serious threats or illegal activity may be reported to the authorities.
- Explanation and appeal. Except where immediate action is needed for safety, we will explain any action in writing and give you 14 days to respond. You may appeal to PIC’s board, whose decision is final.
We apply these guidelines consistently, regardless of who is involved, including board members and volunteers.
